Creativity vs Crisis
Statement
GRenter is an online platform - response to the current crisis; it is an archive of creativity, an accumulator of ideas, an accelerator of creative dissemination, a “creative bankruptcy lab” of sorts.
GRenter aims to give answers, suggest solutions and offer critique; it uses creativity to open up a window to the ‘bankruptcy lab’ that Greece and Europe are today, to shine a spotlight on the population that becomes marginalized, on the transforming city and human relations. Such seminal, yet still not fully analyzed transformations in the mentality of people make ‘crisis’ a worldwide synonym for possibilities and changes.
GRenter addresses its thematic through three main outputs:
a) Art works produced by artists following special invitation (initially presented online and at a later stage through a traveling exhibition).
b) Texts.
c) The 3-year project “Enter Views on Crisis”, whose focal point is the interview format as art form, communication means and source of information. The project aims at creating an archive of interviews that can be used for future scientific research, literary and journalistic reference, inspiration and artistic creation; producing new knowledge about concepts of crisis and creativity and the production of artistic interpretations of this new knowledge; and finally initiating public dialogue via the dissemination of knowledge produced using different means and forms of communication (mass media, networking etc.).
Enter Views on Crisis is an initiative of GRenter, Institute Hyperwerk for Postindustrial Design - Academy of Art & Design - University of Applied Sciences and Arts Northewstern Switzerland (Basel) and the School of Architecture - Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece.
